Angels signed RHP Daniel Cabrera to a minor league contract.
Cabrera was given his release by the White Sox during spring training. The 29-year-old right-hander was 0-6 with a 6.00 ERA and 1.98 WHIP in nine starts and six relief appearances between the Nationals and Diamondbacks last season. There's just not a lot to like about Cabrera at this point, especially if he can't find the velocity he lost last season.

Joe Nelson, who was designated for assignment on Friday, said he may retire should he clear waivers.
"I'll be going to the beach with my kids and the wife and trying to be a real dad for a couple of days," said Nelson. "I'm sure Monday I'll pick up a baseball and throw it around, but for the next couple of days I'm going to enjoy life and not being a baseball player for a couple of days." Nelson posted a 9.72 ERA over eight appearances with the Red Sox.

Dodgers signed RHP Kiko Calero to a minor league contract.
Calero was released by the Mets last month after posting a 10.59 ERA and 1.94 WHIP over 10 appearances with Triple-A Buffalo. There have been whispers about a potential injury dating back to the winter, but that apparently wasn't enough to scare the Dodgers off.
