Athletics signed catcher Kurt Suzuki to a four-year, $16.25 million contract with a club option for 2014.
So, it wasn't an extension as initially reported. Instead, his 2010 contract was torn up and replaced. Susan Slusser reports that the vesting option, which takes the place of his first year of free agency, kicks in if he plays somewhere around 110-120 games in 2013.
