The Cardinals have made Jake Westbrook their No. 1 target of the trade deadline, according to ESPN's Jayson Stark.
Stark says the Cards have told other teams that they're backing off other starters and "going in a different direction." That direction, Stark says, is Westbrook. However, Stark also says that the odds of a trade happening are no better than "50-50." Ken Rosenthal and Jon Paul Morosi of FOXSports.com reports that the Dodgers are talking to the Cubs about a trade for Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot.
It's not known if a deal is close, but the Cubs would likely have to kick in some of the roughly $5 million Lilly and Theriot are owed the rest of the way. Orioles recalled 3B Josh Bell from Triple-A Norfolk.
He's in the lineup to play third base for the Orioles on Thursday against the Royals. The 23-year-old will get a chance to prove he is ready to be a major league regular, as the Orioles just shipped Miguel Tejada to the Padres. Bell is 5-for-19 (.263) with the O's in two stints earlier this season. He was ranked as the organization's No. 2 prospect by Baseball America over the winter and hit .278/.328/.481 in 344 plate appearances for Triple-A Norfolk. He's a must-add in all AL-only leagues but not yet a mixed league option.

Luna will take the roster spot vacated by Thursday afternoon's Jorge Cantu trade. The 30-year-old Luna hasn't appeared in a major league game since 2008 but he's posted a respectable .845 OPS, 16 homers and 71 RBI in 354 at-bats on the Triple-A level this season. Not bad.

Taschner signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers in June and was called up to the big leagues last week. But he allowed 14 earned runs in 19 2/3 innings and will either elect free agency or head back to Triple-A Albuquerque. It may be in his best interest to stick with the Dodgers.

Akinori Iwamura, who is currently playing with Triple-A Indianapolis, was hospitalized and diagnosed with a concussion after a collision while running the bases Wednesday.
He ran into an infielder covering first base during the first inning of Wednesday's game. A CT scan and other tests came back negative, according to Pirates director of player development Kyle Stark, but Iwamura will be re-evaluated later in the week. Iwamura is batting .299/.450/.437 with two homers and 12 RBI over 87 at-bats since being optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis last month.

뇌진탕을 입어 병원에서  CT촬영등의 검사를 받았다고 합니다.

Nationals placed RHP Stephen Strasburg on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 22, with right shoulder stiffness.
There was some back-and-forth, but after Nationals manager Jim Riggleman announced that he would be shut down for ten days, this move made more and more sense. Former pitcher Jim Bunning can talk all he wants, but this is the right move to protect a special arm in a down year for the Nationals. Better to look to the future. It looks like the newly activated Scott Olsen will take his place for now.

A major league source tells Bruce Levine of ESPNChicago.com that the Nationals want right-hander Daniel Hudson and another top prospect from the White Sox in exchange for Adam Dunn.
According to Levine, the Nationals have also asked for catcher Tyler Flowers, outfielder Jordan Danks or infielder Brent Morel. The White Sox already turned down a one-for-one trade that would have sent Gordon Beckham to Washington. Another source tells Levine that six teams, including the White Sox, Angels, Tigers and Rangers are in the bidding for Dunn's services.

A source confirms to Jeff Fletcher of AOL Fanhouse that the Giants are interested in Scott Podsednik.
As Fletcher astutely points out, the two sides reportedly agreed on prospects for David DeJesus before his thumb injury, so they may be able to make progress on a deal rather quickly. He'd be a pretty nice fit in left field.

Tracy Ringolsby of FOXSports.com reports that the Rockies "continue to talk" with the Marlins about infielder Jorge Cantu.
Like the Rangers, who also have interest in Cantu, the Rockies are looking for a right-handed run-producer. Cantu has hit .260/.308/.410 this season with 10 home runs and 54 RBI in 366 at-bats. Moving him would allow the Marlins to free up playing time for recently-recalled prospect Logan Morrison.

A source told FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal on Monday that the Cubs are willing to eat some of Kosuke Fukudome's remaining salary in a trade.
Rosenthal's source says that Cubs GM Jim Hendry and Co. would take care of part of the $4 million that Fukudome is owed this season and even part of the $13.5 million that he is owed in 2011. The Japanese import has hit just .257/.365/.402 in two-plus major league seasons and he's batting only .253/.356/.410 over 229 at-bats this year. Few teams have interest currently.

팍스스포츠 닷컴 켄 로젠탈에 의하면 시카고 컵스는 후쿠도메의 잔여연봉을 부담해서라도 트레이드 하고자 한다고 합니다.

후쿠도메의 올시즌 잔여연봉은 400만달러, 내년시즌 연봉은 1350만달러 입니다.(내년 계약 만료)

컵스의 제너럴 매니저 짐 핸드리는 올시즌과 내년시즌 연봉의 일부를 부담하겠나고 말했습니다.

As expected, Gary Matthews Jr. has exercised his right to opt out of his contract with the Reds.
The outfielder had the clause included in his contract so that he could become a free agent if he wasn't called up to the major by July 24. He was hitting pretty well at Triple-A Louisville and will now look to catch on with another team.

Rockies activated RHP Taylor Buchholz from the 60-day disabled list.
Buchholz hasn't pitched since 2008 while recovering from Tommy John surgery. He pitched extremely well that year in a relief role with the Rockies, but the right-hander didn't fare too well in his rehab outings and should be left on the waiver wire until he shows he's regained his old form.

콜로라도 로키스의 우완투수 테일러 벅홀츠가 60일자 부상자 명단에서 복귀했습니다.

타미 존 수술을 받았었던 벅홀츠는 2008년 이후 투구한적이 없다고..

Yankees activated RHP Sergio Mitre from the 15-day disabled list.
Mitre, who has been out with an oblique injury, will start Saturday for the Yanks and looks to remain in the rotation for a few weeks while Andy Pettitte is on the DL. The right-hander held a 4.61 ERA in his rehab starts but did strike out 16 while walking only two over 13 2/3 innings.

부상자 명단에 올라가있는 앤디 패팃에 로테이션을 대체할 것입니다.

The Padres putting Latos on the DL was a little fishy from the beginning, as most thought they were just wanting to rest their young right-hander and using the DL as a means to get an extra roster spot. Nevertheless, he's back and you should start him with confidence Saturday against the Pirates.

Cardinals activated OF Ryan Ludwick from the 15-day disabled list.
Ludwick has been out since June 25 with a calf injury. He had a double and a pair of home runs in nine at-bats for Triple-A Memphis during his rehab assignment, so it appears that the outfielder is OK to stick back in your lineup immediately. The Cardinals will welcome him back after getting shut out Friday for the second straight game, which is the first time that's happened during the Tony La Russa era.
