Giants signed RHP Brian Lawrence to a minor league contract.
He'll report to minor league camp. Lawrence, 34, hasn't pitched in the major leagues since 2007 as a member of the Mets. He posted a 4.42 ERA over 142 2/3 innings with Triple-A New Orleans (Marlins) last season. Look for him to serve as organizational depth at Triple-A Fresno

The deal also comes with an invitation to spring training, where Winn will face an uphill battle if his goal is to land a spot on Baltimore's Opening Day roster. The 36-year-old batted just .239/.307/.356 with four home runs and six stolen bases for the Yankees and Cardinals last season. He also lacks range defensively and often plays curiously deep to make up for it.

Why are we not surprised by this? Feliz, who turns 36 in April, will have the opportunity to earn an $800,000 base salary if he makes the team and could make an additional $200,000 with incentives. The veteran third baseman just .218/.240/.293 with five home runs and 40 RBI with the Astros and Cardinals last season. His defense also took a nosedive, according to Ultimate Zone Rating. Needless to say, he can safely be ignored in fantasy leagues.

The deal is worth $900,000 if Mahay makes the big league roster and it also carries an invitation to spring training. As long as everything goes smoothly next month in Arizona and Mahay manages to stay healthy, he should be a member of the Dodgers' Opening Day bullpen. The 39-year-old held left-handed hitters to a .219/.239/.281 batting line in 2010.

Riley, a former top prospect in the Orioles' organization, is quite a blast from the past. He hasn't pitched in professionally since 2008 and hasn't made an appearance in the big leagues since 2005. The southpaw has not received a spring training invite and will serve as organizational depth.

Cruz posted a 3.38 ERA in five appearances last season for the Royals before undergoing season-ending surgery on his throwing shoulder in mid-May. He's all better now, but the Rays will probably ask him to begin the 2011 season at Triple-A. He posted a 5.72 ERA over 50 1/3 innings in 2009.

Blue Jays claimed LHP Wil Ledezma off waivers from the Pirates.
Ledezma, who turns 30 later this month, was designated for assignment by the Pirates before the holidays. While the southpaw posted a 0.94 ERA and 50/19 K/BB ratio over 38 1/3 innings with Triple-A Indianapolis last season, he had a 6.86 ERA over 27 relief appearances with the Pirates.

The Padres claimed Liz off waivers from the Orioles before the 2010 season but were unimpressed with the 4.83 ERA and 1.35 WHIP that he posted in 25 appearances at the Triple-A level last year. The 27-year-old righty will be on the hunt for a minor league contract and a spring training invite.

Indians signed RHP Doug Mathis to a minor league contract.
He'll also get an invite to major league spring training. Mathis posted a 6.04 ERA and 10/11 K/BB ratio in 22 1/3 innings over four stints with the Rangers last season. The 27-year-old right-hander didn't fare much better in the minors, compiling a 5.66 ERA and 54/31 K/BB ratio over 89 innings with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He'll also get an invite to spring training. Pena, a former shortstop with Atlanta and Kansas City, converted to a pitcher during the 2009 season. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 3.76 ERA and 80/35 K/BB ratio over 95 2/3 innings as a reliever in the minor leagues. He struggled at the Triple-A level in the Giants organization last season, posting a 6.60 ERA and 21/14 K/BB ratio over 30 innings.

보스턴 레드삭스와 우완투수 토니 페냐 주니어와 마이너리그 계약을 맺었습니다.

애틀란타와 캔자스시티를 거친 전 유격수 선수로서, 올시즌 샌프란시스코 더블 A와 트리플 A에서 던졌습니다.

저는 시삭스에 있는 강속구 투수 말하는줄 알았는데, 유격수 보던 페냐 였습니다.

2009년에도 투수로 던진기록이 몇 게임 있기는 한데, 2010시즌부터 본격적으로 전향한듯 싶습니다.

According to FOX Sports.com's Ken Rosenthal, Jon Garland's contract with the Dodgers is a one-year, $5 million deal that includes an option for 2012.
He'll also potentially get $3 million more based on bonuses between 150-190 innings pitched. Garland's option for 2012 will vest if he reaches a high innings total next season. He turned in a 3.47 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 200 frames for the Padres in 2010 with 136 strikeouts against 87 walks. Those numbers might have been helped by the pitching-friendly confines of Petco Park, but he's still an effective innings eater and should do well at the back of the Dodgers' rotation. Nov. 26 - 3:41 pm et

투구 이닝이 150 ~ 190이닝 사이를 던지면 약 3백만달러 정도의 추가금액을 받는 옵션이 걸려있다고...

싱커볼러로 알려진 존 갈랜드는 2011년 샌디에이고에서 30게임 선발 14승 12패 3.46의 방어율과 190이닝을 투구했습니다.

다저스의 단장인 네드 콜레티가 이번 겨울에 계약한 3번째 선발투수입니다.(릴리, 구로다, 갈랜드)

존 갈랜드는 내년시즌 릴리, 구로다, 커쇼, 빌링슬리, 파디야 등과 로테이션을 이룰 것 같습니다.

MLB 닷컴에서는 그를 이닝 이터라고 표현을 했네요.

LA 다저스가 잘 잡은 계약이지 않나 싶습니다. 데려온 팀도 지구 라이벌팀인 샌디에이고고 가격도 적절한 것 같네요

SAN DIEGO -- Dave Roberts is returning to the field as first base coach of the San Diego Padres.

The former major leaguer will move over from his current role as a special assistant in the baseball operations department.

Roberts said he developed a rapport and mutual respect with manager Bud Black, "and his offer to me was huge."

"Ultimately it was too good of an opportunity to pass up," Roberts said. "I look at the past season and how much fun I had with the players and working with staff. It's an opportunity to be more hands on. It's exciting."

During last spring training, Roberts worked with the Padres on their baserunning techniques and worked with the outfielders.

Roberts said he'll bring to his job "just the knowledge of playing and also being on the bases, just relating to these guys. I've lived it, I've had good times, I've had tough times. I just want to bring the experience as well as the energy and passion that I have for the game. I'd like to believe that I can convey that to the players and I'd like to think they'd be better for it."

Roberts is best known for his stolen base for Boston in Game 4 of the 2004 AL championship series against the New York Yankees that sparked the Red Sox to an elusive World Series championship.

Roberts has recently battled Hodgkin's lymphoma, undergoing chemotherapy and then radiation treatments.

He believes he has it beaten.

"All my scans are clear," he said.

He played 10 seasons in the majors for Cleveland, the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston, San Diego and San Francisco. The speedy outfielder retired after 2008 and worked in television last year for the Red Sox.

Roberts was a career .266 hitter with 243 steals.

He replaces Rick Renteria, who will become the bench coach. Former bench coach Ted Simmons is leaving to pursue a managing job or return to scouting.

선수생활동안 클리브랜드, LA 다저스, 보스턴 레드삭스, 샌이에이고 파드레스, 샌츠란시스코등에서 10시즌을 뛰었습니다.

파드레스의 현재 1루 베이스 코치인 릭 렌테리아씨는 벤치코치로 임명되며, 벤치 코치였던 테드 시몬스는 스카우팅쪽으로

옮길 것이라고 합니다.

A source confirms to Jeff Fletcher of AOL Fanhouse that the Giants are interested in Scott Podsednik.
As Fletcher astutely points out, the two sides reportedly agreed on prospects for David DeJesus before his thumb injury, so they may be able to make progress on a deal rather quickly. He'd be a pretty nice fit in left field.

Padres placed RHP Mat Latos on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 9, with a strained left side muscle.
Great timing. The Padres were looking for a way to limit the young right-hander's innings and he just happened to injure his side attempting to hold back a sneeze last Friday. The good news is that the Latos will be eligible to return on July 24.

The eight-year figure is significant among major league first baseman because that is the exact same length of the contract that Mark Teixeira received from the Yankees. The Padres probably wouldn't mind giving him the years, but if he wants $180 million, it's going to be very difficult to lock him up. Gonzalez remains under team control through 2011..
